Anniversary Of Haiti Quake

Today is the one year anniversary of Haiti being rocked by the worst earthquake it had suffered in 200 years.  It killed over 230,000 people and left another 300,000 injured.  The Haitian people are still trying to rebuild their nation and their lives a year later.

These are some of the TransGriot posts I wrote during that time period that probably need to be reread again since Haiti is back on everybody's radar for now.

Douglass' 1893 World's Fair Haitian Pavilion Speech

Let's also take a moment to say some prayers not only for all the people who lost their lives that day, but for the nation of Haiti to finally catch a break and get to become the nation we know it was meant to be.
