The Man Couldn't Even Be Buried In Peace

I was more than a little pissed off to hear about the Wednesday beating death of prominent Ugandan GLBT activist David Kato.

It was even more distressing to hear that it occurred three weeks after a Ugandan court handed him and the local TBLG community a major victory by ordering the virulently anti gay Rolling Stone newspaper to cease and desist in their practice of posting the names, photos and addresses of GLBT people in the country because it was putting their lives in jeopardy.

About the only thing positive that came out of it was that it halted the UK's imminent deportation of a lesbian who had been living in Great Britain for eight years back to Uganda.

Brenda Namigadde feared she would be killed if that happened and she had every right to feel that way.  She was told by the notorious homophobic Ugandan MP David Bahati, the author of the 'Kill The Gays' bill that seeks to impose the death penalty for homosexuality, to repent or be arrested on her return.

But what angered me even further was reading about what happened at Kato's funeral in his ancestral hometown .

Anglican minister Thomas Musoke waited until the end of an emotional ceremony to grab the microphone and launch into a homophobic tirade that shocked the dozens of gay men and women as well as foreign diplomats in attendance.  A scuffle ensued and Musoke was eventually led away by the po-po's.

Damn, David Kato couldn't even be buried in peace.

Pastor Musoke claimed in his tirade that the world had gone mad and even this new jack Pharisee has a point.

The world has most definitely gone mad when alleged religious people seem to think that their bigotry and hatred of TBLG people is justified by their holy book.   They must also be mad when they take it a step further in killing and depriving people they hate of their human rights because of who they love.

Damn-Gay Peeps Ain't Even Safe In The Stonewall Inn

New York's Stonewall Inn is the most famous gay bar on the planet.    The world famous Christopher Street bar was the site of the 1969 riot that jumped off the modern TBLG rights movement and in 2000 was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

But according to the New York Daily News it was the scene of a weekend gay bashing that thankfully led to the arrests of the wastes of DNA involved.

NYPD arrested Staten Island residents Matthew Francis, 21 and 17 year old Christopher Orlando on charges they yelled homophobic slurs while pummeling a 34 year old man during a restroom robbery at the Stonewall Inn early Sunday morning.

Sadly, that wasn't the only phobic incident that happened in New York's most gay friendly 'hood.   l

On Friday night 20 year old Andrew Jackson was busted a few blocks away in Chelsea when he and a pack of unidentified pals brutally attacked three gay men who were kissing each other on the corner of W.25th Street and ninth Ave.

Damn, now the homophobes feel so comfortable in their hatred of LGBT peeps they not only bully our kids, but now they're coming into iconic buildings to do crap to us.

What's next?   Are they going to disrupt GLBT friendly churches and conventions?

We've had a jacked up week with seven BTLG kids dying by their own hand because of bullying.  The community is still pissed about the stalled congressional civil rights agenda leading into a crucial midterm election in which anti civil rights candidates are using truckloads of corporate money to get elected.   We've had murdered transwoman Victoria White's identity erased by the Essex County, New Jersey criminal justice community..

When are we as a community going to say, 'enough is enough' and just straight up go off and aim direct actions and protests at the people and organizations actually responsible for oppressing us?

When are the protests going to be aimed at the people and organizations such as the Republican Party and their Tea Klux Klan auxiliaries, fundie Christians, the Catholic Church, various hate preachers such as Fred Phelps and conservative hate radio?

They are the ones stirring up the anti GLBT sentiment that is killing us, our kids, subjecting us to bodily harm and making our communities less safe.

When is that going to happen?

50 Cent Hatin' On Gay Peeps Again

While the New York and New Jersey authorities were dragging the Hudson River looking for the body of Tyler Clementi and the investigation into the series of events that led the talented collegiate violinist to jump off the George Washington Bridge to his death is going on, 50 Cent picked a bad time to put out his latest homophobic tweet.

If you a man and your over 25 and you don't eat pu**y just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol
This isn't the first time he's been caught with his Twitter draws down or busted for his homophobia.   Jasmyne Cannick called his butt out in this February 23, 2007 post.

GLAAD slammed him for this tweet aimed at Perez Hilton earlier last month.

Perez Hilton calld me douchebag so I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding. wasnt his but still made me feel better."
He deleted that tweet, but followed it up with two more aimed at Perez Hilton:

"Stop being so sensitive it's a joke. You're acting like a big baby,"
"My next song will make your sweet ass dance. Lol. Chill Out."

So why do we care?   Because 50 Cent has a Twitter following of 2 million people.

Bottom line, 50 Cent is an ignorant waste of DNA that isn't going to change.  He is not representative of the majority of my community and those of us who are busting our behinds in support of LGBT rights issues.

But his mouth is another reason why a serious dialogue on TBLG issues in the African descended community and especially in the hip hop world needs to get started now.

No Rainbow Cupcakes Or Cookies Made At Indy Hate Bakery

"I explained we're a family-run business, we have two young, impressionable daughters and we thought maybe it was best not to do that," said co-owner David Stockton to a local Fox television station. He then added that it's his bakery's decision to decide what is obscene. Apparently rainbow colors fall under that label. "We have our values, and you know, some things ... for instance, if someone wants a cookie with an obscenity, well, we're not going to do that."

Renee at Womanist Musings has commented on it, but had to shake my head at just how ridiculous the homophobia gets for low information and intelligence conservafools.

The gay student group at IUPUI  in Indianapolis went to the Just Cookies store in the Indianapolis City Market recently to order some rainbow cupcakes for the upcoming National Coming Out Day celebration on October 11.

But the students were shocked and surprised when their cupcake order was refused by the owner of the store.    They did however get another bakery to happily fill their order.

But it shouldn't have happened in the first place, especially in a location such as the Indianapolis City Market that was renovated with the use of tax dollars provided by all of Indy's citizens.

And citizens, conservafools, also includes the TBLG citizenry of Circle City, not just right-wing Bible thumping GOP voting bigots..

This kind of stuff is a prime example of why we have laws such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act and many others in place to prevent discrimination against marginalized groups, Rand Paul.

Hate to break it down to you conservafools, but 'The Market' is not a magic cure all for everything that ails the United States.   It damned sure doesn't work when it comes to dealing with prejudice, racism  and eradicating the doctrine of 'whiteness' in American society.

Some people have to dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century and doing the right thing, and that what those anti discrimination laws are for.  You don't have to like me, but you do have to respectfully serve me when I come to your establishment with my hard earned dollars in hand, hire me if I'm qualified for an open job or make sure your establishment is ADA compliant if I have a disability.

If you're wondering why people across the gay and transosphere and our allies are griping about an Indiana  homophobe refusing to sell rainbow cupcakes to a student group, it's because it's an example of the everyday slights and insults that wear on the souls of GLBT folks on a regular basis.

Those everyday slights, insults, slings and arrows that a GLBT person suffer with in silence build up and eventually lead to an explosion of anger when they get one slight too many piled upon them.

And I would hate to be you Mr., Mrs. and Ms. Homophobe when that particular GLBT person or the community they reside in has had enough.  .
